A Message From KFJC's General Manager The staff of KFJC is performing our annual rite of revenue - the KFJC On-Air Fundraiser. Each year, many of our loyal listeners show their support for our programming by making a tax deductible donation to KFJC. These generous donations are used to pay for our basic operating expenses, to buy music for our libraries, to repair and replace equipment, and to prepare for future improvement and expansion of our operations. In the past year, we have made major capital improvements which have significantly reduced our cash reserves. We completely renovated our broadcast studio and one of our production studios. In addition, we have made major changes in our internet audio feeds that have greatly improved their sound quality. This year, our top priority is to begin to replenish our capital reserves so we can make the transition to digital broadcasting within the next few years. We're also continuing to make progress on our plan to purchase and install back-up generators at our studios and transmitter site, so your enjoyment of KFJC will not be interrupted by uncontrollable acts of nature or irresponsible acts by humans. In addition, we're working to produce an ambitious schedule of adventurous special programming and events. There are many ways to make your donation to KFJC. From Saturday, October 4th through Sunday, November 1st, you may call (650) 941-6800, 24 hours a day, and one of our staff members or volunteers will gladly assist you. Sometimes, when we're particularly busy or late at night, you may get our voicemail, but we'll promptly return your call at a time of your convenience. We also have a secure donation form on our website, so you may donate online. Also, you may mail a check payable to the "Foothill-De Anza College Foundation" to KFJC
Last, but not least, we'd love it if you would come down to the station to assist us in our fund raising efforts. You'll get to meet the staff, answer some phones or stuff some envelopes, enjoy some snacks and beverages and have some fun. If you'd like to donate some of your time to assist us, please call me, Steve Taiclet, at (650) 949-7348 and leave your name, phone number, and the best time to contact you. Regardless of how you choose to support KFJC, the station will benefit greatly and you'll be richly rewarded. As always, we're offering a variety of cool items to show our gratitude for your generous donation to KFJC. Our popular series of t-shirts featuring designs by some of today's top underground artists continues. This year's design was created by Darren Grealish. Grealish is currently one of the top designers of rock posters. He has produced artwork for a diverse range of KFJC favorites such as De La Soul, Drums And Tuba, the Flaming Lips, Mudhoney, Lee "Scratch" Perry, the Residents, and Spaceheads. The KFJC "Girlie Shirt" also returns with a snazzy design from Seattle-based artist, Krysztof. In addition, we're producing two more limited edition CDs. "Double Overhead", continues the KFJC tradition of delivering scorching live surf tracks that are unavailable anywhere else. It's a special, two disc set of surf instrumentals, mostly from KFJC events and live mics. Disc one contains tracks from 20 bands and disc two features a great live show from King of Hawaii."Live From The Devil's Triangle, Volume Six", is a cornucopia of modern sounds featuring Live Human, Low, Mono, and Paik, among others. For more information about these items and more surprises, please check out our catalog of fundraiser thank you gifts. At KFJC, we're working hard to provide our listeners with a diverse range of programming that is unavailable anywhere else on the radio dial. We hope that you'll support KFJC with a tax deductible donation and help us continue to do radio the way it ought to be done - with freedom, creativity and passion. Steve Taiclet
