Production Department
Ever wonder who does those great 'spots' promoting events for KFJC
such as the fundraiser, special events or even other shows. The Production
Department is responsible for producing and approving spots as well as training
new participants how to run the production equipment. We've got two fully
equiped studios plus several computers in the station lobby that are used
for production.
Programming Department
The Program Director is responsible for the on-air schedule including
approving new DJs for broadcast. The PD approves shows, sets the weekly schedule
and sets the break clock including break formats.
Promotions Department
The Promotions Department is the liason to local clubs and venues. The
deparment is repsonsible for the production of the Concert
Outlook and Entertainment Calendar - a comprehensive look at the live
events happening throughout the Bay Area, with a special emphasis on
the wide variety of music featured on KFJC itself. The calendar is
recorded weekly and broadcast daily at 5:30 and 8:30 AM as well as
12:30 and 5:30 PM.
KFJC often offers free or discount tickets and passes to local shows
and events. These give-aways are organized by the promotions department
and presented to various DJs to distribute to listeners over the air.
KFJC co-promotes shows and concerts of interest. Often KFJC personnel
will attend these events and have an area with station information
and merchandise. These events will typically be noted on this website.
Public Affairs Department
In addition to music, KFJC offers a variety of public affairs programming including
Thoughline, For the Record by Dave Emory and news-oriented specials.
Publicity Department
The Publicity Deparment is responsible for the outbound marketing
of the station. Currently this consists of working with the local press (posting
program listings, pursuing story ideas, ...), producing the program guide
and developing this very website.
Public Service Announcement (PSA) Department
As a condition of our broadcast license, KFJC must act as an agent of public
good in our community. Part of that community service comes in the form of
public service announcements which promote the activities of non-profit groups,
government agencies or other matters of public interest. Station personnel
are given work credit for the creation of these announcements which are read
several times each show by the DJs. The Public Service Announcement manager
collects and posts these announcements and ensures that time sensitive materials
are correctly handled.
If you are a non-profit (501.3c) corporation or government agency, contact
the public service department to submit your public service announcement material.
KFJC reserves the right to choose which materials to present to its audience.
Traffic Department
In accordance with FCC regulations, we keep strict logs of all station business
conducted over the air. These logs are the DJs cue to conduct business including
legal IDs, Public Service Announcements, Underwriting, EAS tests and other
station business. The Traffic Department is responsible for creating and ensuring the
accuracy of the station log files.
Training Department
Owing to our affiliation with Foothill College, KFJC serves as a training
ground for all aspects of radio operation. The training starts with a formal
class and extends through the rest of anyone's affiliation to the station.
