Lost in the Ozone Again: Commander Cody's Lost Planet Airmen
Wednesday Mayhem 19th 7:PM to 10:PM
Lost in the Ozone Again:
Commander Cody?s Lost Planet Airmen Hosted by Art Crimes
Everyone knows about Detroit legends like the MC5 and Iggy Pop, kicking out the jams and making rock a contact sport. But around the same time
in Ann Arbor, artist George Frayne christened himself Commander Cody and created his own twisted world of western swing, rockabilly, truckdriver
songs, and salutes to substance abuse. After relocating to San Francisco in 1969, Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen became a fixture in the ballrooms
and nightclubs. They were defiantly un-psychedelic in the Summer of Love. Although best known for their two actual hits, "Hot Rod Lincoln" and "Don't
Let Go", the band never got the rewards they may have anticipated as hard-workin' rock stars. Eventually they reached the end of their road after a
European tour. Most of the original members have moved on, some still playing clubs for a small-but-devoted following, but for awhile Cody's Airmen
were among San Francisco's hidden treasures for those lucky enough to have seen them in the 70s. We'll hear a sampling of live and studio material,
starting from 1970 and up to their last Warner Brothers release.

Robert Wyatt: Machines, Moles, and Mao
Tuesday Mayhem 25th 7:PM to midnight
Robert Wyatt: Machines, Moles, and Mao
Hosted by Max Level and Art Crimes
Robert Wyatt has outlasted many of his companions from those psychedelic days
in London, when Soft Machine was constantly gigging at UFO with the likes of the
Syd-era Pink Floyd. But a drunken tumble out of a window ended his drumming career,
leading to his reinvention as a singer, songwriter and creative magnet for the
luminaries that have happily worked with him in the last 20 years, folks like Elvis
Costello, Nick Mason, Brian Eno and Paul Weller. Wyatt has graced the charts once
or twice with other people's songs, but his own compositions, written with his wife
Alfie, are unmatched for their sensitivity and originality. With music and
interviews, Max Level and Art Crimes will take you back to Swinging London with
Soft Machine, play politics with Matching Mole, hang out with jazz heavyweights
like Carla Bley, and bring you up to speed on Wyatt's solo career, including his
latest release, Cuckooland.

A live performance: Electronic music, mainly making use of computer software

the static
nature of the work is his main musical interest.

Too Cool For School: Special Ed Pullout Session

Spend three hours listening to the oddly entrancing, wonderfully humorous and inescapably human results of musicians with physical and
cognitive disabilities. The focus is on projects that offer people with severe disabilities the opportunity to write, play and experiment with music. Far
from trying to cover up their disabilities, groups such as The Kids of Widney High and Special Music by Special People embrace and incorporate their
life with disabilities in their lyrics and performances. We'll include fresh tracks by the How's Your News Band plus cuts from Dancing Tree's, Children
of Ala Costa. Plus demos, live cuts and interviews if the Title I funding comes through.
