KFJC Public Affairs

It's what you don't know that can hurt you.

KFJC has a long history of bringing the other side of the news to its listeners. The long running Sez Who News is on a (hopefully brief) hiatus but, in the meantime, Dave Emory continues to unearth unholy truths on the For the Record program and Thoughtline brings news and newsmakers of the local community to the airwaves each and every week.

Tune in carefully. The more you listen, the more you'll know.

Alcatraz Occupation 1970:

From November, 1969 to June, 1971, a group called Indians of All Tribes, Inc., occupied Alcatraz Island. This group, made up of Indigenous people, relocated to the Bay Area to protest against the United States government's policies that took aboriginal land away from American Indians and aimed to destroy their cultures. The Alcatraz occupation is recognized today as one of the most important events in contemporary Native American history. In 1970 Phil Pflager of KFJC documented and aired the voices and ambitions of those champions of native rights and culture so that we can reexperience their vision today.
