Training at KFJC
KFJC is more than a radio station - it's a learning institution. As part of our charter with Foothill-De Anza Community Education, our primary function is to teach the art of radio to students of all musical tastes and skills. Whether it's learning to be a DJ, going though our public affairs department, our engineering ranks - in fact, KFJC operates through a total of ten different departments, each with its own skill set and all needed to run a radio station.
Entry-Level OrientationThe way to start the process of working in front or behind a microphone is to enroll in the KFJC Radio Station class. New staff members will be required to go through our Entry-Level Orientation to basic station procedures and functions. After orientation, a potential DJ is placed into formal training program which varies by individual but typically combines one-on-one training working with an on-air DJ followed graveyard (2A to 6A) shifts.
Apply and RegisterHere's where to apply and register. Enter "KFJC" in the "search for a class" box and press Go. Information for both new and returning students will be presented. Select your option and join KFJC.
NOTE: First time users of the registration site will need to create a new student profile before selecting a KFJC course option. Follow the sign in link from the menu on the left, then follow instructions for New Students.
Class TimesBy the way, the class time and place for new staff orientation will be posted at the station (Building 6200, Room 6202) on the Foothill College campus (directions). Check the station door or inside on the "white board" for the date and time when classes start.
Sometimes we need volunteersWe're also in need of volunteers to help with a variety of projects. This is especially true during our annual fundraiser each October. Stop by the station or give us a call on the business line at 650.949.7260 to see if there's a match.
