Longtime music critic and author Greil Marcus chats with Art Crimes for four consecutive Thursdays throughout Mayhem 2008. Greil Marcus first introduced the idea of ?The Old, Weird America? in his book ?Invisible Republic? (1997) which dug deep into the circumstances of Bob Dylan?s ?Basement Tapes.? The phrase has a life of its own now, becoming part of the folklore, much like the traditional songs that are at its core, and it?s also become the name of a weekly show here on KFJC.
